WHAT IS THE “GIFT OF GOD”?

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

I land on the side of striving for peace in the face theology that tends to divide. So, though I share views that are in opposition to Reformed or Calvinistic theology, I never do so in a contentious spirit because I know that nobody truly has “THE ANSWERS” to God’s full nature and workings.

One such division is centered on understanding of the act of faith, or a believer’s movement towards God in Salvation. Many brothers and sisters in Christ believe that if you are elect by God, at some point in your life, you will be supernaturally enabled to have faith in God. They will refer to having been given the “gift of faith”.

I submit that this notion is not well supported in scripture at all. The following study reflects my view on this very well.
